In this review, I’m going to show you how to turn your car into a smart car with the Echo Dot. I have my Echo Dot and it is actually powered with the EVO battery. Most new cars have built-in Wi-Fi where you can actually pay a monthly fee, but my 2010 Prius doesn’t have that option so I decided to connect it to my phone’s Wi-Fi. That was very easy to do. You just go into the Alexa app and set it up to your device.
Today, I’ll be driving around with my Echo Dot. The sound coming out of the Echo Dot isn’t that great, so I could either connect it to my car’s Bluetooth or plug it into an auxiliary cable. If I plug it in using an auxiliary cable and the sound will come in through the car speakers. It’s pretty neat now if only you could actually see the auxiliary cable is plugged into the car. The Echo Dot is connected to my phone’s Wi-Fi and I am good to go.
Let’s do this, all right. I’m going to hit the road and we’re off to the races. This is a perfect solution while driving because it’s all hands-free. You don’t have to worry about being pulled over by the police because you’re fiddling with your phone.
You can ask Alexa to update you with the news.
“Alexa, what is my news?”
“Here’s your Flash briefing in the news. Hi I’m Terry Genova with your afternoon CNN news update Thursday June 1st 2017. Starting with breaking news out of Manila. Gun fires have been heard on the Resorts World Manila in the Philippines CNN Philippines has reported…”
That was kind of depressing so let’s try something new, shall we?
She’ll give you the shortest route to your destination. This saves you a lot of time because you get away from traffic.
“Alexa, what is my commute to work?”
“The fastest route takes about 51 minutes Hwy 404 and Don Valley Parkway south.”
Ask Anything extends the ability of Alexa to answer your questions! For instance, Alexa by default can’t answer some questions like personal questions, but with Ask Anything, Alexa now can. To trigger the skill, say, “Alexa, I have a question.” You’ll hear “what’s up?” in response, and you can ask Alexa any number of questions after that. Anything Google can answer, Alexa now can too.
“Alexa what is the temperature in Newmarket”
“In Newmarket Canada it’s 65 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. You can look for cloudy skies and moving in and out 45 degrees.”
You can choose what songs come into mind to give you an emotional lift or to fit whatever mood you are in. You can sing along with the top songs. It will never be boring.

You can listen to Alexa give you information and details about the stock market. Keep track of your stocks.
“Alexa ask the fool.”
“The Motley Fool. Give me the name of the company or ask me about how your watch list is doing.”
“How is my watch list doing?”
“Stocks on your watch list are at 26 percent or 0.37% anything else?”
Hands-Free is such a great blessing. You can ask Alexa almost anything. She keeps you updated in the international news, local news, and finance news among others. You don’t have to fiddle on your phone to look up information. She is a helpful “passenger.”
I am about to go for a drive on our way out to get something to eat because I’m a starving Marvin. Alexa can even help me and recommend restaurants.
“Alexa, why don’t you play some music?”
“Here’s a station you might like Ed Sheeran.”
I have Alexa with me and I do need some music to help stimulate the brain. I have no idea where I can eat, and I can actually check with Alexa.
“Alexa, what are some nearby places to eat?”
“Based on your zip code settings here are a few nearby popular ones…”
And Alexa can even get more accurate results, just go to the Alexa app and enter your address
I can ask Alexa to tell me a joke.
“Alexa, tell me a funny joke.”
“The electron asked the photon: Did you pack your suitcase? The photon responded: No. I’m traveling light”
Lost like a fart in the wind I am. I’m retarded with directions. I get lost in telephone booths. I get lost in my bed sheets that’s a good place to get lost. I know, right? But I can always ask Alexa for help.
